The psychological consequences of a poor termination can be formidable both for the person being dismissed and for the Manager who is doing the firing.
William J Morin.

It is easy to understand how the termination process, handled badly, can have a devastating effect on all parties concerned, including the remaining staff and the immediate community. A lack of clearly defined actions can lead to false hopes and hostile feelings.

Career Journal and supporting One Day Workshop
We designed this career journal to be the place where all learning materials can be kept. One of its’ key features is the continuous and underlying  challenge that we present to the individual to help them raise their self awareness, this in turn helps to boost their confidence and has the effect of calling them to action, quicker and with more expectation.
We run a one day supporting  workshop that looks at the content of the Journal and the reasoning behind it. We do this, so by the time people are taking ownership of their own personal Career Journal, they will recognise the importance of it and how valuable it is to their  personal and career development.

The journal will also  provide the employer with an excellent reference tool that can be referred to during one to one progress consultation meetings.

We work with many different Coaching tools and techniques and introduce some of the following : Wheel of Life a well established coaching tool that allows the individual to face the reality of where they are in their lives right now. It is a powerful method that helps to hi-light any problem  areas that need attention and concentrated effort. It helps individuals to recognise their values and beliefs and to plan for a more balanced life.

Beliefs are those stories we tell ourselves about why we can’t do something, ie, “I can’t do that course because I’m not clever enough”  “I couldn’t possibly think about doing that because I am too old”  Belief Bashing is an insightful exercise that looks at  how our stories hold us back and how we can change them to help us move forward.

Master of Skills encourages a person to think about how they manage to be good at whatever it is they are good at…there are key stages to mastering a skill and this leads a person through those stages and challenges the perception they have about their abilities. The aim of the exercise is to help people recognise and celebrate what they have achieved so far and what they are capable of in the future.

Now that the Wheel of Life has been completed and the individuals have challenged their limiting beliefs and  gone on to recognise their key skills, it’s  time to get motivated in order to start overcoming obstacles and get up and get moving, How Motivated can you get? With advice on how to make changes and recognise your natural tendencies, this section includes inertia - defined as a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged -  and some great strategies to help  overcome.

Finally, before everyone starts on the more  practical journey of finding new employment we look at The Root of all Fears. One of the most enlightening sections, this  helps people to recognise that many fears are as a result of how they  perceive the world around them. As one of Americas Leading Coaches, Michael Neill  says - You are not afraid of what you think you are afraid of, you are afraid of what you think.

The remainder of the Journal will be to record what jobs have been applied for, follow ups, responses, interview details and everything else that a person needs in order to constructively manage the career future.

One on One Support- all levels of staff
An agreed period which will deliver 1-1 Consultations. These sessions will cover not only the practicalities of finding work but also the emotional impact that redundancy can have on an individual. The Career Journals are an important part of the 1 - 1 Consultations.
These sessions will cover a mix of the following:
• Coming to terms with the current situation-needs analysis
• The impact and it’s recovery-looking at reality and reactions
• Setting action plans- introducing the planning mindset
• First steps on a bigger journey-making it manageable
• Confidence and motivation- using the very best in NLP techniques to implement self belief
•    The practicalities of skills awareness and the options to retrain
• Jobs market  evaluation, where to look, how to apply-the different applications for each medium
• CV and covering letter presentation- make yours stand out from the rest
• Interview preparation and attendance – leaving the very best impression
• Interview follow up – Keeping control of the process
• Looking at self employment- a look at business start up

The number of sessions could be 6 x 1 hour over a 6 week period, depending on the need of the individual. You  may feel that more support is required, in which case the numbers of sessions can be extended. Equally, an individual may be well equipped to deal with the consequences of their situation and only 3 are needed.

We do not choose to categorise different approaches for  Management in relation to say a Receptionist, Administrator. This is we because we will deliver the core content to all but put specific emphasis on the individuals needs. We deliver the appropriate career advise to each individual and would source the relevant contacts and make the most suitable introductions according to the persons needs.

“The Expert approach to finding a Job!”  One day workshop aimed at assisting all levels of personnel.
An integral part of the Outplacement Service, this unique one day workshop is crammed full of the most valuable advice on the process of finding a job. Right from the day when you realise you need to start job hunting again and all the way through to when you have been for interview and you are wondering what’s next.
Practical, funny, and highly informative, this is for everyone, regardless of status in the company.
